Bruce Telecom is celebrating its 100th anniversary in the region this year and has big news for Kincardine.
Bruce Telecom presented its budget for 2011 to Council on Wednesday night, both operating and capital but it also came with its annual dividend payout to the municipality.
Kincardine will receive one-million-dollars this year, an increase of 200 thousand dollars over last year.
Bruce Telecom CEO Eric Dobson says four quarterly payments will be made to Kincardine.
Dobson says they began 2011 in a strong cash position and as a result, 4.3 million dollars worth of capital projects this year will be entirely funded by operating cash-flows.
He says they will continue to invest in improving their products, service and coverage in the region.
Council was obviously pleased with the report and with the increased dividend to the municipality.
Councillor Ron Coristine says if that million dollar dividend was not there, it would result in a tax increase of 18 per cent for ratepayers.
