Recent changes mean some blood work is not being done at the Owen Sound hospital any more.
Grey Bruce Health Services confirms all in-patient testing continues and more complicated blood work will still be done at Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre.
However, patients who go to a clinic or a family doctor will now be told to go to Life Labs on 3rd Avenue East in Owen Sound instead of the hospital.
Senior Director of Clinical Services Elaine Burns says the hospital does not get paid for blood work of outpatients, and the lab at the hospital handles nearly three million tests a year already.
She says Life Labs was notified about the change several months ago, and has been expanding the facility to handle the extra workload.
Burns says Life Labs will likely see an increase of about 50 patients a day, because of this change.
