Local rotary clubs will be helping out more kids in the Grey-Bruce region this year.
Committee Member Leigh Grigg says 18 thousand dollars was raised at the event held at Shallow Lake Community Centre on Saturday, and the Sawmill Trail in Port Elgin.
Eric Strain with the Rotary Club of Owen Sound tells Bayshore Broadcasting News all of the money hasn’t been counted yet, but they are up from last year’s total.
Strain wishes to extend a huge thank you to everybody who took part, raised money, or helped stage the event.
He says without these efforts, it wouldn’t be possible for the Rotary Clubs to help local kids.
Grigg says the top pledge earner again this year was Bruno Rudolph at Shallow Lake’s event, and Lauran Gibbons at the Port Elgin site.
The money will go to support the Outdoor Education Centre in Wiarton, Presquile Camp in Owen Sound, and Youth Programs in Tara, Shallow Lake, Hepworth, Owen Sound, Southampton and Port Elgin.
