Following a spirited Accommodation Review Committee meeting last week in Chesley, the ARC members want to take a step back.
So a special meeting of committee members will be held Monday, January 24th.
Last week’s meeting was pro-Chesley when it comes to the future of that community’s high school.
However, reports were received after the meeting complaining about how the meeting unfolded.
There were reports that Chesley members of the review committee were already saying the school would remain open leaving a perception that their minds were already made up before hearing all the arguments.
Saugeen Shores – Arran Elderslie trustee Kevin Larson, a non-voting member of the committee said following a board meeting on Tuesday, the committee needs to take another look at how it operates.
Board chair Marg Gaviller says she expects committee members to have biases but they have to be put aside in order to see the bigger picture, which is an optimum accommodation plan for schools in Chesley and Hanover.
Mondays’ meeting at 6 PM at the board offices in Chesley is open to the public but the committee will not be entertaining any presentations.
The next public meeting of the ARC will go on February 8th at John Diefenbaker Secondary School in Hanover.
Following that there will be meetings March 10th at Chesley High School and March 29th, again in Hanover.
The Bluewater District School Board won’t be making any decision on the issue until the end of the school year.
