Cannon Design is the architectural firm tasked with redeveloping the South Bruce Grey Health Centre’s Kincardine site.
The Toronto based firm was one of ten that submitted a proposal for the project.
South Bruce Grey Health Centre Vice President of Corporate Services Walter Yewchyn says Cannon will lead a team of sub-consultants in a labour intensive planning and development process.
Yewchyn notes they’ve already established a master plan for the hospital, which pinpoints the areas they need to focus on.
He says the project is now moving into phase two of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care’s Capital Planning Process — the development of a functional program.
That involves determining the types of programs and services the project needs, as well as space requirements and the layout of the space.
He tells Bayshore Broadcasting News this process will take six months to complete.
Construction is slated to begin in 2015.
Yewchyn says he envisions a state of the art facility.
Yewchyn adds the ballpark estimate for the cost of the project is roughly 34 million dollars.
