The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs reports its trails will not open immediately — just because snow has returned.
Administrator Karen Buratynski tells Bayshore Broadcasting News their volunteers have a lot of work to do before the trails open.
She notes they will need to go over every inch of their trail system before they can deem it safe for riders — and that won’t happen this weekend.
Riding on a closed OFSC trail is illegal and if caught — you may be charged with
trespassing.
Plus Buratynski warns if you do ride on their trails before their groomed — you may cause significant damage to land and pre-planted crops on private property.
And many of the swamps and wetlands will not be frozen under the snow — and that poses a big danger.
Buratynski adds their volunteers will work quickly to open trails as soon as possible.
