Construction activity in Owen Sound got off to a good start in January, with nearly 790 thousand dollars worth of work now underway.
A year ago, only 170 thousand dollars worth of work started in the first month of the year.
Owen Sound Development Co-ordinator Sandi Parks says one unusual stat was that two new homes were started last month in the city.
She says that may be just because of the mild winter we are having.
It marked the first time in at least three years, that new homes were started in January.
Also last month, 328 thousand dollars worth of work started at Heritage Place Shopping centre.
Parks says two units are being converted to a new women’s clothing store called “Maurice’s”, which should open in the Spring.
