The historic Owen Sound Golf and Country Club is now officially re-branded as Legacy Ridge Golf Club.
The grand unveiling took place Tuesday night at Stone Tree Golf and Fitness and Director of Operations Michael Todd says the reaction was incredible.
Todd tells Bayshore Broadcasting News they wanted to respect the 91 years of history the old club had, and they felt the word “legacy” epitomized all of that.
The “ridge” part of the name came from the land formation where the club is situated.
Todd says they choose the name out of 25 to 30 options and local designers Concept Signs came up with the logo — which is a tree over a ridge.
Todd says would-be members can sign up for early bird specials of under two thousand dollars before March 31st.
They can do that at Legacy Ridge Golf Club, Stone Tree Golf and Fitness and Todd says by the end of the month their website at legacyridgegolf.ca will be functional.
Todd says they don’t have any major renovations planned for the clubhouse yet but will definitely freshen it up.
As for the frontage of the course, the piece of land on Grey Road 1, Todd says they have a 50/50 partnership with Kinsale Investments, but he declined to say any more.
Kinsale build homes and it’s widely rumoured that’s what they plan to do with that piece of property.
Todd says the application window for those looking to become the golf pro at Legacy Ridge Golf Club closes February 15th and on February 18 they are holding a job fair.
Stone Tree Golf and Fitness officially took over the course January 31st from Kinsale Investments, who’s winning bid was accepted by court appointed receiver BDO after the club filed for bankruptcy.
