It appears the four elementary tech centres in Grey Bruce will be permanently closed.
The Bluewater public school board business committee looked at four options on Tuesday, for the tech centres in Hepworth, Meaford, Hanover and Kincardine.
In June of last year, the board decided to suspend operation at the centres in order to save about 840 thousand dollars.
They eliminated eight staff positions at the time.
Yesterday, Hepworth area trustee Terry Bell says a lack of money was the main reason the board business committee decided to close the Tech centres.
Four options were looked at including having a mobile tech centre that went from school to school, but again money was the issue.
Bell says Grade 7 and 8 students were taught about robotics, small engines, telecommunications, child care and fashion design in the centres, and he says they were popular.
The permanent closure will come to the full Bluewater board for a final vote at the next regular board meeting on February 21st — but Bell doubts the centres will be re-opened.
