Walkerton Daycare rates are on the rise.
Brockton Council has approved the rate increase to help offset daycare staff salaries raises.
Mayor David Inglis tells Bayshore Broadcasting News the rates are going up about eight per cent.
Inglis recognizes the new rates will receive some opposition from parents, but he believes the increase is fair.
He says the Walkerton Daycare is a municipally run system and has higher salary costs to cover the quality service.
Inglis says the new rates simply reflect the cost of doing business.
New Rates
Toddler – $34.50 full day – $21 for a half day.
Preschooler- $32.50 full day – $20 for a half day.
Schoolage – $26.50 full day and $17 for a half day.
Before and After School Program – $6
