Youth filmmakers are needed.
The Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library is once again hosting a Youth Film Festival for students throughout Grey and Bruce counties.
Children and Youth Services Librarian Nadia Danyluk says the contest is open to students in grades 7 to 12.
She says submissions can be up to 10 minutes in length, and they can be animated or live-action.
And she says the topic can be whatever the student wants.
The only limitation is that they can’t use copyrighted music.
Danyluk says the contest started three years ago, as a recommendation from their Youth Advisory Council.
She says last year, they decided to open the contest up to all of Bruce and Grey counties, and got other local libraries on board.
Danyluk says they also receive funding from the United Way of Bruce-Grey.
She says Galaxy Cinemas in Owen Sound helps out as well — as the chosen submissions for the Festival will be screened at the theatre on March 26th.
They will be judged by a panel of judges for a cash prize of up to 150 dollars.
Danyluk says submissions need to be in by February 12th.
