The Federation of Ontario Public Libraries is giving a Bruce County man a lifetime designation as an honorary member.
Award-winning librarian and outgoing CEO of the Bruce County Public Library System, Marzio Apolloni, will receive the designation at their annual general meeting February 1st in Toronto.
Apolloni recently announced his retirement, effective March 31st, 2012.
Board Chair Jim Bennett says Apolloni showed sound judgement, strategic acumen and cohesive leadership.
Apolloni served on the Federation’s Board of Directors since its inception in 2005.
Bennett says Apolloni oversaw many advances in raising the Federations profile with the Provincial Government to secure much needed funding.
During Apolloni’s tenure with the Board, membership in the Federation rose by 19 per cent.
