A public meeting is set to be held Tuesday night on the planning process for a secondary wastewater treatment plant in Owen Sound.
Director of Operations Brad McRoberts says the city is aiming to have the new 45 million dollar plant operational by 2016.
It would be paid for with one third of the money coming from the province, one third from the federal government one third local taxpayer money.
McRoberts says the environmental assessment has considered other locations but is recommending the Secondary treatment plant be located right next to the current primary wastewater treatment facility.
The public session is from 6 PM to 8 PM tonight in the Bayshore Community Centre.
McRoberts says it will inform members of the public about the whole process, and will provide an opportunity for feedback to be given.
He says once the Environmental Assessment process is complete, they’ll do design work on the facility and tenders will be put out in the fall of 2014.
The multi-million dollar facility should be built by late 2016 and will take out more organic material from the waste water before it goes into the harbour.
