It’s been rumoured for months, and now Bayshore Broadcasting News has confirmed that the former PPG plant has been sold.
The factory was shuttered about three years ago.
At one time, PPG had some 500 workers in Owen Sound.
The 600 thousand square foot building on 73 acres along 20th Street East in Owen Sound had been listed for sale for 6.1 million dollars.
The property includes offices, heavy power truck bays, high ceilings and warehouse space.
Officials at City Hall have confirmed with Bayshore Broadcasting News that the property has been sold.
However, they will not identify the owner.
We have been told the City is now working with the new owner and developer on plans for the site.
One source close to the sale says one third of the site will be used for “salvage” with the remainder of the property to be divided into working space for up to four local companies.
Stay tuned to Bayshore Broadcasting News for this developing story.
