The Tom Thomson Art Gallery in Owen Sound has welcomed some new additions.
Curator Virginia Eichornn says they’ve received 20 new pieces to their permanent collection, thanks to five separate donors.
Eichornn says the collectors are all from Ontario or Manitoba, and they each approached the gallery with piece from their private collections.
Eichornn says it’s a huge honour to be considered for donations from private collections because people can have a very emotional attachment to their art pieces.
And she says it speaks to the reputation of the gallery.
Eichornn says the works range contemporary artwork to historic artwork.
It includes pieces from Franz Johnston, who was a member of the group of seven.
Eichornn says the gallery now has almost 23-hundred works in the collection — all done by Canadian artists.
She says the pieces will be integrated into upcoming exhibits this year at the gallery.
