There is a report Harper government’s plan to sell Atomic Energy of Canada may be in trouble.
The Canadian Press is reporting Bruce Power in Tiverton has reportedly pulled out of talks with Ottawa to buy A-E-C-L’s troubled CANDU reactor business.
The report also suggests the nuclear generating station’s CEO told staff Friday that the company dropped out of the bidding process, and that the decision was made Thursday by the board of directors.
It goes on to say it’s unclear why Bruce Power pulled out but that sources say it’s likely a money issue.
Bayshore Broadcasting News has spoken with Bruce Power Media Relations Spokesperson John Peevers about the report.
He tells our newsroom he cannot comment on the issue surrounding pulling out of talks to buy AECL because they do not comment on business development.
He did tell us however CEO Duncan Hawthorne did not speak to staff in Tiverton about anything of the sort yesterday and does not know where that suggestion came from.
