The Bruce Grey Catholic School Board is inviting post secondary students to come back to class as tutors.
The Board has funding from the Ministry of Education to hire College and University students to come into the classroom to tutor students.
Superintendent of Education Catherine Montreuil says it’s a win win situation.
She notes post secondary students can make money while younger students can get one on one help with their classes.
To qualify — the tutors must currently be enrolled in post secondary studies.
They must also receive specialized training through the Board before they begin.
Montreuil believes the individual attention the students receive through the tutoring lessons can make all the difference.
She notes kids often connect well to young adults and are eager to learn from those they consider ‘cool.’
The province’s funding only covers part of the cost — the Catholic board is picking up the rest of the tab for the program.
