We have a message from the Grey Bruce Health Unit that if you haven’t already done so now is the time to get your flu shot.
There has recently been six confirmed cases of the flu in the Grey Bruce region.
AndSara Ellis — the Program Manager of the Vaccine Preventable Disease — says the time is now to get your shot.
Ellis says though there is one thing to not do — do not go to the hospital to get your flu shot.
Ellis has received calls from the Owen Sound hospital this morning saying they are inundated with people going to the hospital for flu shots.
Ellis says go only to the health unit office or to your doctors office to receive your shot – saying they have extra staff on hand to deal with patients.
She says you must be in good health to receive your shot and those visiting or working in long term health centres should make sure they have their shot as well.
The health unit will issue flu shots regularly until the end of February — but Ellis says the sooner the better to receive your shot.
If you are under the weather with the flu – Ellis stresses you should stay home until you are feeling better.
