There is more movement to save the bandshell across from the library in Owen Sound.
Even though no physical work has started yet, the group hopes to have the band shell restored or rebuilt by Victoria Day weekend in May.
Francesca Dobbyn of the United Way Bruce-Grey says the group that first brought up the discussion on Facebook will meet again Thursday night.
Dobbyn says their first meeting in December was productive, and each person left with a task, such as talking to City Hall, and one of the engineers who attended was going to assess the structure.
Dobbyn says it’s been a good response so far, with people willing to raise money, and professional engineers and contractors ready to lend their expertise.
She says before they can go any further, they need some direction, and need to connect with officials at City Hall to make sure they are moving forward properly.
But Dobbyn says anybody who is still interested in helping is more than welcome to attend this meeting as well.
She says it’s likely they will meet once a month for now.
Tonight’s meeting starts at 7 PM, again at the United Way of Bruce-Grey office, in downtown Owen Sound.
The United Way is just lending the meeting space for this project.
