Something for residents in South Bruce Peninsula to look forward to in the Spring.
Council has decided to re-pave the tennis courts on Lakeshore in Sauble Beach.
The decision was made during capital budget sessions but not before there was some discussion as to where additional money can come from.
The three tennis courts in South Bruce Peninsula are available on an honour system.
Users are asked to make a donation in boxes at the courts, for using the facilities.
Judging from the money coming in — not everyone is doing their part.
Mayor John Close says the local tennis association looks after managing the money and is expected to help with costs when it comes to capital improvements.
Close admits contributions have been less than stellar and there is some concern about that.
However, Close feels the courts are the asset of the municipality and they will have to pay to upgrade them.
Council will also look into other ways to have people who use the courts to help contribute to their upkeep.
Councillor Marilyn Bowman — who represents Sauble Beach ratepayers voted against the motion.
Bowman says she wants the re-paving work to be done — but she feels there should be negotiations with the tennis association to look into potential grants to help with the work.
