There will be plenty for the family to do on New Year’s Eve in Owen Sound.
City Event Facilitator Doug Cleverley says their traditional New Year’s Eve Family Celebration will take place again at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre tonight.
Cleverley says they will have plenty of activities including ice skating, glow-in-the-dark mini golf, and arts and crafts.
He says parents might want to get the kids there early to get some party hats and noise makers, and get into the spirit.
Children’s performer Dickie Bird, who is Summerfolk’s former artistic director Richard Knechtel, will play music and do a magic show.
Cleverley says it’s great to have such a talented, local performer.
And he says there will be a special balloon drop in the lobby at the end of the evening.
He says the event runs from 6 PM until 9 PM, but they will set the clocks so it looks like it is 9 PM to midnight.
Then at 9 PM, there will be the balloon drop, so the youngsters who can’t stay awake will feel like they got to ring in 2012.
