Rob Shouldice, a prominent regional businessman, passed away over Christmas weekend of cancer.
Known as ” Mr Stoneman ” at Shouldice Designer Stone, Rob Shouldice joined his father, Bev, at the company based in Shallow Lake in 1962 at age 16.
He was 65.
Shouldice was involved in every phase of operation including manufacture, transportation, office and administration duties
Shouldice is remembered as an innovator in the stone industry having created or invented many lines and styles that are now considered to be the standards in the stone industry
Based in Shallow Lake, under Shouldice’s direction, the company now has sales stretching right across North America.
More than a boss, Shouldice is best remembered as a family man.
Two of his sons, Steve and Brad, now operate Shouldice Designer Stone
At the plant, Rob Shouldice was known less as a boss, and moreso as a mentor or friend.
His impact at the company, along with the community of Shallow Lake and Grey Bruce region will be missed greatly
The year 2012 would have marked Shouldice’s 50th year at the company which was founded in 1947 by his father, Bev.
Visitation is at the Shallow Lake United Church 2 PM to 4 PM on Wednesday afternoon and from 7 PM to 9 PM tonight.
The funeral service is at 11 AM on Thursday.
