The annual SCOBE awards — the Saugeen Community Business Excellence Awards — will not be running this year, after 11 successful years.
Over those 11 years they have worked well with the Chambers of Commerce, as well as their sponsors, strengthening the partnerships and relationships with the business community.
But Rose Austin, the General Manager of the Saugeen Economic Development Corporation, says now it is time to refresh both the SCOBE and STAR programs and look at different ways to proceed.
Austin says the monies available in the past from the Saugeen Economic Development Corporation and traditional sponsors was not as available this year.
But the STAR AWARDS which were cancelled last November and the SCOBE Awards program is not done yet.
Austin says there is the possibility of merging the two programs and running them every 18 months.
She says they don’t want to lose the awards program because of the fact it has brought alot of recognition to the many different business in the area over the last decade.
The awards recognize outstanding businesses in Brockton, Hanover, Arran Elderslie, West Grey, Grey Highlands and South Bruce.
