The Hanover Fire Department is undergoing an internal restructuring of sorts.
Fire Chief Ken Roseborough says the recent retirement of Deputy Chief Terry McDonald presented them with an opportunity to restructure.
He tells Bayshore Broadcasting News they are eliminating the position of Deputy Chief and replacing it with two new positions.
They will be a Platoon Chief for Operations and a Platoon Chief for Training.
Roseborough says they are essentially splitting the responsibilities of the Deputy Chief to two people.
Each Platoon Chief will also be assigned a Captain and Lieutenant to serve as support staff.
Roseborough says the move also allows for better succession planning.
Applications for the new positions are now being accepted and Roseborough hopes to have the positions filled by February 1st.
There will be a small budget increase of about 26 hundred dollars to cover the cost of the new positions.
