Results are in for the province wide testing of students.
For students in the Bluewater school board system, the EQAO results show 84 per cent of the Grade 10 students taking the literacy test for the first time, were successful.
That is an increase of 5 per cent over the success rate in 2009 for the reading and writing tests in the Bluewater board.
The Bluewater board reports the success rate for boys is now 80 per cent, and for girls 89 per cent in 2010, both up by five per cent.
Meanwhile, the Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board is reporting 86 per cent of students passed the literacy test this year.
That is down from 90 per cent last year.
84 per cent of boys and 88 per cent of girls passed the reading and writing test in Grade 10 this year.
Successful completion of the test or the Ontario Secondary School Literacy course is one of the 32 requirements for getting a high school diploma.
The Simcoe County Board of Education had 83 per cent of the students passing this year, compared with 80 per cent in 2009.
79 per cent of the male students and 87 per cent of the females passed.
And in the Avon Maitland district system — 84 per cent passed the EQAO literacy test this year, down from 88 percent in 2009.
81 per cent of the boys and 88 per cent of the girls passed.
