The Harriston Legion has big plans for the 65th anniversary of D-Day today.
Gerald Haddon will be their keynote speaker at their ceremonies.
Haddon is the grandson of Air Commodore, The Honourable John Alexander Douglas McCurdy.
McCurdy was the first person to fly an airplane in the British Empire in 1909 when he piloted the Silver Dart out of Nova Scotia.
In 1910 he was the first Canadian to be issued a pilot’s license.
He also opened the country’s first aviation school.
Grandson Gerald Haddon worked with CTV for almost 40 years.
