Another highly successful Grey Bruce Farmer’s Week is officially in the books.
One of the organizers Ray Robertson says the 45th annual event — held at the Elmwood Community Centre — drew record crowds over the last six days.
Robertson says the event offers a chance for farmers to interact with each other, as well as learn about new technology and techniques they can put to use on their farms.
Robertson feels if each farmer can come away from the week long event with one piece of key information, the program was successful.
He adds the event set new attendance records on a number of days.
Grey Bruce Farmers Week is broken down into a main focal point on each day, beginning with Beef day and ending on Crop day.
Robertson says dealing with livestock issues was a key focus this year, and he feels a lot of useful facts and information were presented to farmers.
He adds another highlight of the event was having Huron Bruce MPP and Ontario Minister of Agriculture Carol Mitchell kick off the week at the opening ceremony.
Robertson says the Grey Bruce Farmers Week committee is already looking at what improvements can be made for the 2012 event.
