For the first time in years, the Owen Sound harbour could remain empty except for the Chi-Cheemaun.
Normally, two or three ships dock in the Scenic City for the winter months but none have tied up at this point.
Harbour Master Gord McNeil says he expected a Canada Steamship Line vessel to land in Owen Sound, but it was held up by the bad weather in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
McNeil says it didn’t make into the Great Lakes before the shipping season ended.
He says it is possible one or two Algoma Marine ships will dock in Owen Sound by the end of this month, but nothing is guaranteed.
If no ships stay in the city thru the winter months, it will be tough on welders and others who normally rely on the winter work.
