Thanks to a donation, the fire departments of West Grey and Elmwood can help save your pet’s life.
The Invisible Fence Brand of Grey Bruce and Simcoe Counties along with the Durham Vet Clinic made a donation to the fire departments of pet oxygen mask kits.
Linda Sugars of Invisible Fence Brand of Grey Bruce and Simcoe Counties says she received a call from Doctor Kent Charlton of the Durham Vet Clinic that there were not pet oxygen masks at those fire detachments.
In a national movement — Invisible Fence has been donating to the Farley Foundation so that pet oxygen masks can be in turn donated to local fire detachments.
The Farley Foundation is a charitable organization that assists seniors, disabled individuals and women at risk of abuse by subsidizing non elective vet care for their pets.
Sugars says the donation to the fire departments will help ensure that if a pet is rescued from a burning building the proper equipment will be on hand to save the animal.
Sugars says the masks can help and animal as small as a gerbil or as large as a horse.
She adds the masks not only save the pets lives but also reassure the firefighters that they can help should a pet come into trouble.
Sugars says she has heard reports of animals making a full recovery after being treated with an oxygen mask.
The donations cover the fire stations in Durham, Ayton, Neustadt and Elmwood.
