They’ve talked the talk and now it’s time to walk the walk.
It’s the essence of a notice of motion presented by Saugeen Shores/Arran Elderslie trustee Kevin Larson with the Bluewater Board of the Education.
The motion commits trustees to the principles of openness and transparency and to engaging in full disclosure whenever possible.
The move comes after a rocky four year term of the previous board and the administration staff.
Larson says he was pleased the board passed the motion unanimously.
Larson says trustees continue to hear concerns about the function of the board and its responsibilities to the public.
He says this motion show the public that the transparency values are important to the current board.
Newly elected Southgate/Grey Highlands trustee Jim Dawson says now that the motion is passed — it’s imperative to put the meaning into action.
Dawson says this issue was an important one from constituents during his campaign and he would move forward on it.
In the past 12 months the board and administrative staff have been accused of not listening to the taxpayers, leaving students and parents to fend for themselves when it came to education issues.
