It’s time for the 27th annual Port Elgin Rotary Club Home and Rec Show.
On Soundingboard on 98 the Beach this week — Event Chair Rotarian Bob Lunney highlighted the three day event at the Plex.
It kicks off today at 5 PM and continues tomorrow and Sunday, from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Lunney says they have close to 70 vendors this year covering all aspects of home renovation and recreational activities.
He says they expect some three thousand visitors this year.
Admission is free.
Lunney says this year they’re selling raffle tickets on a new flat screen TV as first prize and a 35 hundred watt generator as second prize.
In addition on Saturday and Sunday, there will be a 50-50 draw each day at the show.
Rotarian Chery Goetz says this is a major fundraiser for the Port Elgin Rotary Club which supports a variety of community efforts in Saugeen Shores.
Goetz, who is also a vendor at the show, says her colleagues like the set-up at the home and rec show because it offers customers some one-stop shopping and offers vendors to meet potential customers that they may not have met at all.
98 the Beach will be broadcasting live from the show all three days with the morning show’s Shannon Snoes.
We’ll also have ballots to fill out so you could win a tree as part of Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22nd when the winning ticket will be drawn on the morning show.
There are a number of other Home Shows in the region this weekend.
The Owen Sound Home and Cottage Expo is being held tomorrow and Sunday at the Bayshore Community Centre.
The Walkerton Home and Garden Show is takes place this weekend — and Hanover also hosts its first ever Home and Garden Show at the Coliseum.
