The Provincial Minister of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs made a stop in Elmwood on Wednesday to help kick-off Grey Bruce Farmers Week.
Carol Mitchell talked about the Provinces record on rural affairs.
Mitchell spoke of income stabilization programs for farmers, and the positive impact the Green Energy Act has had.
She points to the fact that 10 thousand farmers have signed up for solar power while leases are still being signed for wind turbines.
Mitchell adds its not just about solar and wind power – but also renewable fuels such as ethanol and bio-diesel.
In that regard – Mitchell says the Green Energy Act has directly tied into income stabilization.
Mitchell pointed to the 80 million dollars invested in rural Ontario – specifically in marketing local food – and she intends to add to that record should the current Liberal Government be re-elected.
Meantime, Ontario Conservative Leader Tim Hudak will be making an appearance at the Grey Bruce Farmers Week on Thursday.
