Education inquiry advocate Peter Ferguson of Blue Mountains says the Bluewater District School Board of trustees have some unfinished business to take care of.
Ferguson addressed the board Tuesday night — calling on trustees to right the wrongs that have hurt children and families within the system for the past five years.
Ferguson aimed his remarks at newly elected or acclaimed trustees suggesting they know the damage that has been done.
He indicated concerned citizens asked the board two years ago to conduct a local inquiry or to ask for a provincial inquiry into the workings of the board and its staff.
He says nothing was done and he’s back again asking for the same thing of the new trustees.
Ferguson, an architect by trade, even commented on the design of the board’s meeting room in Chesley.
He says even it is against the citizens, with they being stuck in the back of the room, separated as he says by reems of people between himself and the people he pays through his taxes.
He says even in addressing the board, speakers are stuck in a corner.
It was one issue he remedied for himself, taking a portable microphone and walking around the board area.
Ferguson provided two answers to the meeting room configuration and offered his time to help put it together, free of charge.
The board accepted his prepared report and said he will receive an answer within 30-days.
Ferguson scoffs at that as well saying by time he hears from them everything will be forgotten.
He says the board should be able to make a decision within three days.
