Residents of Grey Bruce may feel they’re out of the loop when it comes to post-secondary education.
They can now access online courses from universities and colleges at a new centre for learning.
It’s called the “Elearnnetwork” (E-Learn-Network) and it’s located near Tiverton.
Co-ordinator Jolene Murphy says people can use the centre to learn a new trade, upgrade their skills, or earn a degree or diploma.
There are computers available for use, wired into high speed internet access.
Murphy says they don’t have to leave their community to study.
The centre is part of a provincial initiative designed to improve quality and access to post-secondary education.
It’s fully funded by the province of Ontario, and there is no cost to users.
Any costs would be paid directly to the university or college providing the course.
The centre is located across from the Bruce Power Information Centre, in what used to be the Bruce Energy Centre
