An Owen Sound company has launched it’s new “Municipal Vehicle”… and is looking forward to increasing sales in a new diversified company.
MacLean Engineering set up shop last December in the old Parker building on 6th street east and yesterday it unveiled it’s new product.
Mayor Ruth Lovell and other city dignitaries were on hand for the launch.
The municipal vehicle can be used for sidewalk and pathway snowplowing and maintenance, field and shoulder mowing, and other tasks that require power in confined areas.
Company spokesperson Mike Denomme says the units sell for approximately $100,000 plus attachments.
So far, 7 “municipal vehicles” have been sold to Edmonton and Denomme believes they are priced well to compete with other companies with similar products.
MacLean is actually a mining company that is diversifying into a new area.
Denomme says some 40 people are employed at the Owen Sound plant.
