Bruce county Nursing Homes for the most part… received high marks for meeting standards in the province.
In contrast, a study by the Canadian Press … revealed three quarters of Ontario’s Nursing Homes have been consistently cited for not meeting basic standards of care.
Of the two homes run by the County,…. Brucelea in Walkerton passed with flying colours, with no citations in the most recent review.
However, Gateway Haven in Wiarton faired poorly in the results posted on the Ministry of Long term care web site.
Gateway Haven had a total of 8 marks under the category of “unmet standards”.
The Director of Long term care at Gateway Haven, Charlie Young was not available for comment.
Meanwhile, the privately run Nursing Homes in Bruce county …. Golden Dawn, Pinecrest Manor, Southampton Care centre and Trillium Court…. all scored high with NO CITATIONS reported for failing to meet standards of care set by the province.
