Chair of the county’s Transportation and Public Safety committee, Chatsworth Mayor Howard Greig says contractors will be extremely busy this summer, after a number of municipalities received provincial funding for roads and bridges.
Greig says most of the county’s allotment of 4.3 million dollars from the province has already been earmarked for various projects.
However he says there is a buffer of about 600 thousand dollars left to allow for any cost overruns.
Greig says most of the money will be used for road resurfacing and improvements.
He says the county has about 80 million dollars in road needs, adding this money will start to address some of them.
Greig says the price of asphalt cement has risen over 100 percent since spring 2006 due to the rising cost of oil.
