They’ve become the first team to successfully do a complete run of the Bruce Trail in one week.
The cross-country ski enthusiasts started off from Tobermory on June 21st and made it into Niagara Falls 840 km later at about 6:30 PM yesterday.
Larry Sinclair owns Highlands Nordic and says it was his idea to do the run.
Sinclair says the hardest part was over the terrain during the first three days as they made their way down from Tobermory.
During that time the group was putting in about 90 km a day – but after hitting the Collingwood area that went up to 120 km a day.
While there were no injuries, Sinclair says there were some missteps with the group getting lost a few times.
A support car was always nearby and Sinclair says they were in radio contact to help get them back on track.
Sinclair says it’s been a great experience as the team saw a lot of Canadian geography and met a lot of people.
He says some of the runners have already been taking about making it an annual event – but he says he’s going to leave it to someone else to take the reins.
Sinclair says they did ask for donations during the run but by the time they add everything up and pay for food, he expects they’re just going to break even.
