John Bujold of Gaviller and Company Chartered Accountant came to Monday night’s council meeting to deliver the audit of their 2007 financial statements.
Bujold says the Municipality finished the year with a 400 thousand-dollar deficit.
He says the deficit has been well documented and attributes it to a reduction in revenues in certain areas.
Bujold says he has made a number of suggestions to the municipality in making sure that they have enough tax revenue to keep up with inflationary increases without hampering the average taxpayer.
But Mayor Charlie Bagnato says the deficit was discovered early into 2008 and was taken care of right away.
He says these financial reports always come late in the year well after they have dealt with the issue.
Bagnato says the Municipality is having a much better year and guarantees that they won’t end up in a deficit this year.
