The Bruce County Federation of Agriculture continues to hold successful meetings for farmers wishing to give their farms and environmental check.
Federation spokesperson Jane Dietrich says their next meeting is tomorrow in Walkerton.
Dietrich says the Environmental Farm Plan program has money available for farmers wishing to improve their operations.
She says the funding can be up to $50,000 per farm and farmers have until December to apply but all the paperwork has to be done as well.
Dietrich says tomorrow’s meeting will focus on how to fill out the paperwork so that the system runs smoothly when applying for a claim.
She says farmers are listening.
To date Bruce County is the top county in the province for bringing money here for environmental upgrades under the program.
Over 3.8 million dollars has been spent here.
Huron County farmers also have the same total.
Dietrich says some of the areas covered include assessment and protection of well water, manure storage and outdoor cattle yards and clean water run off.
She also says the workshop deals with how fuel and chemicals are stored on the farm.
In order to qualify for the money for environmental upgrades, one must attend one of the education sessions.
The next one is tomorrow in Walkerton at 10am.
There is no charge for the workshop.
