You’ve probably heard of Art in the Park.
Well this is art on the sidewalk.
Today the Southampton Art School is holding its annual Art in the Square, where budding artists or anyone that’s interested can produce their work on one of the sidewalk squares in front of the old Town Hall.
On Soundingboard last week student assistant David Schut says the subjects are limitless.
He says participants are invited to use either chalks or water colour paints to express themselves.
The director of the Southampton Art School Meghan Clouatre says they tend to get a lot of patriotic-type drawings in celebration of Canada Day.
But, she says, the subjects are wide open and she invites individuals and entire families to take on one of the squares.
The event runs from 10am to 2pm today and the art school will be accepting donations.
Should the weather be inclement, rains dates are set for July 1st or July 2nd.
