The Chief Executive Officer of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre says healthcare will be changing dramatically over the next few years.
Paul Davies spoke at their annual Board Meeting last night.
He says as the population ages, the Ministry of Health will have to shift their focus away from institutional care and more towards community care.
Davies says hospitals in Grey and Bruce will have to change the way they deliver healthcare as well as the way they listen to the changing needs of their patients.
He says their hospitals are up to the challenge.
This was the tenth annual meeting, and Davies says over the years they’ve had a consistently solid financial performance, which has allowed them to re-invest in more equipment, staffing and buildings.
He says they’ve maintained all the original programming through the years, and they’ve added new programs as well.
Davies says they did manage to have a surplus this year, and their reserves are at a healthy level.
He says this is good, because they will have enough money to upgrade and replace equipment as it becomes obsolete.
