It appears protestors are ready to take their wind turbine fight with the CAW in Port Elgin to the next level.
Over 150 people turned out for a special meeting that called for tougher measures.
Buy foreign made cars, boycott CAW events and get the national media involved.
Those were some of the ideas tossed around at the meeting that also talked about the health effects of the 250-foot turbine going up at the CAW Family Education Centre.
Former Saugeen Township Reeve and Bruce County Warden Harry Thede says buying non-union made cars will get their attention because it means less money in their pockets.
Former Southampton councillor Norm Gurr says rural people have to let the national media know what’s going on to help change the province’s ways.
Protestor Paul Krane suggested that the group start boycotting the events that go on at the CAW Centre throughout the year.
Krane says the group should have picket lines at the entrances whenever there are events going on to get their story across.
Saugeen Turbine Operation Policy or STOP spokesperson Greg Schmalz says people are getting fed up and his group is not going to go away.
Schmalz points out if you take into account studies that show ill health effects as far as three thousand meters away from a turbine, it means this one CAW turbine could affect people as far away as McGregor Point Provincial Park to the Port Elgin harbour and inland a mile past the WalMart store.
CAW representatives were invited to the meeting but declined to attend.
