It is a busy start to the Christmas hampers program in Owen Sound.
By the time officials started handing out the hampers on Monday morning — more than 100 people were lined up outside the former scrapbooking store downtown.
The lineup was later moved from 2nd Avenue East to the back alleyway on 1st Avenue East so that downtown stores were not blocked.
The hampers provide things such as food and toys, as well as other necessities that families may not be able to afford at this time of year.
Bayshore Broadcasting News spoke to some of the residents in line.
They were thrilled to get some help and have the opportunity to get a hamper.
One person who stood in line for a friend admits he was shocked at how many people were in financial difficulty and needed a Christmas hamper.
One person didn’t like the fact they had to be moved to the alleyway.
