The Owen Sound firefighters will be helping out some kids today.
The Fire Department has been collecting toys for kids in our community that are less fortunate this holiday season, and Acting Captain Wayne Flood says they will start handing out those gifts today.
He says this year they saw the need jump to over a thousand kids, and he was a little bit worried because the campaign got off to a slow start.
Flood says names were coming in fast, but donations were slow to come.
But he says this past week the community has really stepped up, and he’s happy to say they will be reaching their goal again this year.
The firefighters will start distributing toys today and tomorrow, and Flood says Wednesday there will be follow up for anybody they’ve missed.
He says they’ll also look for any new names at that time.
