Taking a sleigh ride today could help a local boy and his family.
Dual Acres Sleigh and Wagons in Shallow Lake is having a fund raiser for Tyson Rogerson, who suffered two strokes before he was three months old.
Dual Acres owner Durk Devries says Tyson was adopted in 2010, and his strokes left him legally blind and without movement on his right side.
But he says Tyson is an incredible little boy who doesn’t give up, and with help from his family, he has started forming simple sentences and he’s able to feed himself.
With Tyson growing up, Devries says the family home needs upgrades for accessibility, and that’s what they’re hoping to raise money for.
He says they don’t have a goal in mind, just whatever people can manage is fine.
The day will start off with a parade of sleigh teams at 11 AM, and Santa will come out on a sleigh to talk to the kids.
And then sleighs of 10 to 12 people will be loaded up and taken around the farm, with hot chocolate and cookies afterwards.
All of the proceeds will go to the Rogerson family.
Devries says you can also make a donation to the Sunshine Fund in Tyson’s name.
Devries says you can make a reservation for a sleigh ride, or come out to the farm sometime between 11 AM and 3 PM.
Dual Acres is located on Grey Road 170, off of Cruickshank Street in Shallow Lake.
