Three young men — aged, 17, 18, and 25 — are due in an Owen Sound courtroom in the new year after placing false 911 calls to police.
The trio, claiming emergencies had taken place, were calling from the downtown Wiarton area.
After receiving two fictitious calls during the night, Bruce Peninsula OPP officers were ready for the third and when it came, two of the culprits were arrested at the scene.
The third person ran off as officers approached but was identified and arrested a few hours later.
The 17 and 25 year old were released from custody and will appear in Youth and Adult Court January 3rd and 5th respectively.
The 18 year old was held in custody for a bail hearing.
OPP Constable Dave Meyer says making false 911 calls to police is a criminal offence and when convicted, could result in a prison term of up to five years in duration.
