A softer month by $2 million dollars.
Kincardine Building and Planning Manager Michele Barr says the value of building permits issued last month is down from last year.
Forty-seven permits worth $2.9 million are on the books for May compared with $4.9 million worth in May of last year.
However, year-to-date this year is far ahead of last.
Barr says they have $17.3 million in construction value for the first five months, compared to only $11.4 million in the same time frame last year.
Barr says most of the difference comes from permits to building five wind turbines worth $5 million.
Barr expects this year to be about the same as last year in construction values in the long run.
Last year, Kincardine realized $102.6 million worth of construction.
