A trust fund has been set up at Meridian Credit Union for the Stryker family — the owners of Town and Country Garden Centre — after fire destroyed most of their home.
The Intertownship Fire Department was called to the home just outside of Owen Sound around 9 AM on Wednesday.
Chief Carl Linthorne says the fire was fully engulfed when they arrived and they had a tough time battling the blaze due to strong winds.
Dan and Tanya Stryker were able to escape safely with their two dogs and their kids had already left for school.
Damage is estimated at around 150 thousand dollars.
No word on the cause of the fire but it is not considered suspicious and the origin appears to be somewhere in the garage.
Taylor’s Country Meadow Meats just south of Springmount is also taking donations to help the Stryker family.
