The Mayor of Owen Sound will now fight to keep another City building open this week.
Deb Haswell fought unsuccessfully to keep the City jail open, but it closed on the weekend after operating for almost 160 years.
Haswell plans to meet with the LCBO on Tuesday to try and keep the downtown location open.
The LCBO is planning to close the store when a new 12 thousand square foot store opens at 9th Avenue and 16th Street East.
The store has been downtown next to the Beer Store for almost 50 years, and Haswell says she will argue there is enough business in the area to keep both stores open.
Haswell also intends to point out the City is trying to attract more people downtown by developing its harbour, so the current liquor store would still get many customers.
